Gear change

The act of altering the gear ratio in a transmission system to match engine speed and torque output with the vehicle's or machine's operational requirements. This process involves disengaging one gear set and engaging another, either manually or automatically. In automotive applications, gear changes are typically performed via a gear selector lever.
