Guard band
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000376
A deliberate margin applied to production test limits, making them stricter than the final device specifications required by the datasheet. This practice accounts for measurement uncertainty and variability between the production test environment and the customer's application or characterization environment. For example, a device specified to operate at a minimum of 1.20 volts might have a production test guard band limit set at 1.25 volts.
