The final, correct, or fully engaged position for a piece of equipment or a component. An object is considered home when it is properly stowed, a valve is fully closed, or a moving part has reached the end of its intended travel and is securely seated. For example, an anchor is brought home when it is raised from the seabed and secured in its housing, known as the hawsepipe, against the ship's hull.
