Describing a component that is correctly and securely positioned in its intended place within an assembly, making full contact with its mating surface. A bearing is seated when it is pressed fully into its housing, and a valve is seated when its disc or plug is firmly against the valve seat, creating a seal. Proper seating is confirmed by visual inspection, torque measurement, or leak testing to verify fit and function.
