Keybounce

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003164

An undesirable electrical signal noise that occurs when a mechanical switch or relay is pressed. The physical contacts can rebound against each other several times before settling into a stable closed state, generating a rapid series of on-off signals instead of a single clean one. Debouncing circuits or software algorithms are used to filter these spurious signals and register only a single keystroke or switch activation.
