Kicker

A short, introductory line of text set above a main headline, often in a smaller or contrasting typeface. Its purpose is to provide context or grab the reader's attention before they read the primary headline. Also known as an overline or eyebrow, this typographic element is frequently used in newspaper and magazine design to add another layer of information to the story's entry point.
