Knock up

To align a stack of paper sheets by tapping their edges on a flat surface, creating a neat, squared block before printing, cutting, or binding. This manual process, also called jogging, removes air from between the sheets and registers them evenly for accurate feeding into machinery. Automated jogging tables use vibration and angled surfaces to perform this alignment on large stacks of paper in commercial print shops.
