Lacing

The practice of installing horizontal timber or steel members between vertical mine supports, such as props or sets, to provide additional stability to the roof and ribs. This reinforcement prevents loose rock from falling and distributes loads more evenly across the support system. Lacing is a common method for ground control in underground excavations.
