Lasting

The process in shoemaking where the upper material of a shoe is stretched and molded over a last, which is a foot-shaped form. This operation gives the shoe its final shape and prepares it for the attachment of the sole. Lasting can be performed manually or with specialized machinery, depending on the shoe type and production volume.
