Contact shoe

A device mounted on the bogie of an electric train or tram that slides along a live conductor rail to collect electrical current for propulsion and auxiliary systems. It consists of a conductive material, often a metal alloy or carbon, designed to maintain continuous contact with the rail. The contact shoe is insulated from the vehicle body and connected to the traction motors.
