Pantograph

A device mounted on the roof of an electric train, tram, or trolleybus that collects electric current from an overhead line. It consists of a hinged framework that maintains contact with the catenary wire, allowing power to flow to the traction motors. The contact strip, often made of carbon, is designed to wear out and be easily replaced.
