Traction motor

An electric motor specifically designed to provide propulsive power to a vehicle, commonly found in electric trains, trams, and some hybrid or electric road vehicles. These motors convert electrical energy into mechanical rotational force, driving the wheels or tracks. Traction motors are engineered for high torque output and efficient operation across a range of speeds.
