Hybrid

A system, device, or vehicle that combines two or more different technologies or power sources to perform a single function. In the context of energy, a hybrid power system might integrate solar panels with a diesel generator to supply continuous electricity, using the renewable source when available and the generator as a backup. Hybrid electric vehicles combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor and battery system.
