Hybridization
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007046
The practice in logistics of combining two or more different transportation modes or operational models to complete a single freight movement. This strategy aims to combine the strengths of each component, such as using long-haul rail for its cost-effectiveness and trucks for their flexibility in final delivery. Examples include road-rail services, where truck trailers are carried on flatcars, or using large distribution centers served by trucks that then supply cargo bikes for urban last-mile delivery.
