HVTL
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002937
The infrastructure used for the bulk transmission of electrical energy from power generation plants to substations over long distances. A High-Voltage Transmission Line operates at voltages above 100 kilovolts (kV) to minimize resistive energy losses across the conductors. These lines are supported by large towers and are a principal component of the power grid, distinct from the lower-voltage distribution lines that deliver power from substations to end users.
