Switchgear
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005816
A centralized assembly of circuit breakers, fuses, and switches that function to control, protect, and isolate sections of an electrical power system. These assemblies interrupt electrical flow during faults, de-energize equipment for maintenance, and manage power distribution. Switchgear is rated by voltage class, with low-voltage systems operating below 1 kV, medium-voltage from 1 kV to 38 kV, and high-voltage above 38 kV.
