Electric power transmission

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001998

The bulk movement of electrical energy from generating stations to electrical substations located near demand centers. This process occurs over long distances using high-voltage alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) transmission lines. Transmission voltages typically range from 115 kilovolts (kV) to over 765 kV to minimize energy losses.
