Line conductor
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003355
A wire, cable, or other metallic component designed to carry electric current within a power transmission or distribution system. These conductors form the energized part of an electrical circuit, such as an overhead power line suspended between towers or an underground cable. Line conductors are typically made of aluminum, copper, or aluminum-conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR) cable, chosen based on conductivity, weight, and tensile strength requirements.
