Split-ring
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007262
A type of commutator segment used in direct current (DC) motors and generators to reverse the direction of current flow in the armature windings. It consists of conductive segments separated by insulating material, allowing brushes to make contact with different segments as the rotor turns. This mechanical switching action maintains continuous rotation in a DC motor.
