Rotary converter
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004944
An electromechanical device that transforms electrical power from one form to another, specifically converting alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) or vice versa. It consists of a single armature winding with both commutator and slip rings, allowing it to function as both a motor and a generator. These machines were historically used for industrial power supply and railway electrification before the widespread adoption of solid-state rectifiers.
