EC
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001956
An abbreviation for Electronically Commutated, describing a motor control method that uses digital switching instead of mechanical brushes and a commutator. This technique is applied to brushless DC (BLDC) motors, where solid-state electronics sequence the current to the stator windings, creating a rotating magnetic field that drives the rotor. The commutation logic is handled by a microcontroller that reads rotor position from Hall effect sensors or by analyzing back-EMF.
