Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003330
A rear door on a vehicle, such as an SUV, wagon, or hatchback, that is hinged at the top and opens upward to provide access to the cargo area. Unlike a conventional trunk lid, a liftgate incorporates the rear window into the door panel itself. Many modern liftgates are power-operated, opening and closing with the push of a button on the key fob or dashboard.
