Unwanted, momentary changes in the output of a power supply or voltage regulator, known as Load-Unload Dumps. These voltage spikes or dips occur in response to large, sudden changes in the electrical load, such as a heavy motor starting or stopping. The magnitude and duration of these transients are key performance specifications for a power supply, with automotive systems having specific test standards like ISO 7637-2 to define acceptable limits for load dump events.
