Money shift

An accidental downshift to a gear lower than intended, occurring at high engine revolutions per minute (RPM) in a manual transmission vehicle. This error causes the engine to over-rev severely, potentially leading to catastrophic damage to internal engine components such as valves, pistons, and connecting rods. Repairing the resulting damage from a money shift can be very expensive.
