Month hand
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003746
A farm laborer hired on a monthly basis, a common employment arrangement in historical and seasonal agriculture. This type of worker's contract covered a full month of labor, often including room and board as part of the compensation, providing more stability than a day laborer but less than a permanent, year-round employee. The term contrasts with "day hand" for daily hires or "yearling" for those hired for a full year.
