To apply a thin coat of cementitious or lime-based mortar to a masonry surface, such as a foundation wall or chimney. This coating provides a smoother finish, improves weather resistance, and can conceal minor imperfections. Parging is often applied to the exterior of foundation walls below grade to protect against moisture.
