Practical completion

The stage in a construction project when the works are substantially complete and fit for their intended purpose, even if minor defects or omissions remain. At this point, the client can take possession and use the building or structure. A certificate of practical completion is issued, marking the end of the contractor's primary obligations and the start of the defects liability period.
