An integrated circuit card that securely stores the international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) and related keys used to identify and authenticate subscribers on mobile telephony devices. It contains a unique serial number, international mobile subscriber identity, security authentication and ciphering information, temporary information about the local network, a list of the services the user has access to, and two passwords. SIM cards are standardized by ETSI as specified in TS 102 221.
