Suicide cable

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007297

An extension cord or adapter built with male connectors on both ends, creating an extremely hazardous electrical situation. Plugging one end into a live receptacle exposes the metal prongs on the other end, presenting a severe risk of electric shock or electrocution. These are sometimes improperly fabricated to backfeed power from a generator into a home's wiring system, a practice that violates electrical codes and endangers utility workers.
