A complete set of sails for a boat or ship, designed and cut to work together for a specific range of wind conditions. A basic suit for a sloop includes a mainsail and a headsail, such as a jib or genoa. Racing vessels or cruising yachts carry multiple suits, including heavy-weather sails, light-air sails like a spinnaker, and storm sails for extreme conditions.
