Sverdrup

A non-SI unit of volume transport, primarily used in oceanography to measure the rate of flow of ocean currents. One sverdrup (Sv) equals one million cubic meters of water per second. This unit quantifies large-scale water movements, such as the Gulf Stream, which can transport up to 100 Sv.
