Time trade

A type of charter party where a vessel is hired for a specific period, rather than for a single voyage. Under a time charter, the charterer pays a daily or monthly rate and is responsible for fuel, port charges, and other voyage expenses. The shipowner provides the crew and maintains the vessel.
