Tramp trade

The operation of merchant vessels that do not follow a fixed schedule or route, instead carrying cargo wherever it is available. Tramp ships, or tramps, are hired on a voyage-by-voyage basis to transport bulk commodities such as grain, coal, or ore. This contrasts with liner services that operate on regular routes.
