Cargo that is transported unpackaged in large quantities, loaded directly into a vessel's hold, a railcar, or a truck trailer. Bulk cargo is classified as either solid (dry bulk), such as grain, coal, and ore, or liquid, such as petroleum or chemicals. The quantity is measured by mass or volume, for example, in metric tons or cubic meters.
