Tramper
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007323
A mechanism that pounds loose material into a denser mass for further processing. In a cotton gin the tramper packs ginned lint down in the press box before it is baled, and similar pounding packers are used in trash processors. It works by repeated downward strokes of a head or plate rather than a single squeeze.
