Try-off

The process of producing a preliminary casting or forging from a new or modified die or mould to verify its accuracy and performance. This test piece is carefully inspected for dimensional correctness, surface finish, and internal defects before full production begins. Any necessary adjustments to the tooling or process parameters are made based on the results of the try-off.
