Underride

A type of collision where a smaller or lower vehicle slides underneath a larger or higher vehicle, such as a truck or trailer. This often results in severe damage to the passenger compartment of the lower vehicle, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Rear underride guards are mandated on most new trailers in many countries to mitigate this hazard.
