Cleanup fund

A financial reserve or dedicated pool of money established to cover the costs associated with environmental remediation, such as pollution cleanup or hazardous waste removal. In insurance, policies may include provisions for or contribute to such funds, especially for environmental liability coverage. The Superfund program in the U.S. is a prominent example.
