Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001066
The discount ratio used in workers' compensation experience rating, a factor applied to an employer's expected losses in each classification to determine its expected primary losses. Primary losses are the first part of each claim, up to a split point, and they carry more weight in the experience modification than the excess part because they are more predictable. D-ratios are published by classification code and are always less than 1.
