Guaranteed insurability

A rider on a life or health insurance policy that gives the policyholder the right to purchase additional amounts of coverage at specified future dates without providing new evidence of insurability. The policyholder can exercise this option regardless of any changes to their health, occupation, or lifestyle. These purchase options are typically available at set intervals, such as every three or five years, up to a certain age.
