Hurdle rate

The minimum acceptable rate of return that an investment or project must achieve to be considered viable. In risk management, it serves as a benchmark for evaluating potential investments or risk mitigation strategies, comparing the expected return against the cost of capital and perceived risk. Projects with expected returns below this rate are generally not pursued.
