Insurance Regulatory Information System IRIS

A financial surveillance system developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) to assist state insurance departments in monitoring the financial health of insurance companies. It consists of a series of financial ratios and analytical tools that identify insurers potentially experiencing financial difficulties. Regulators use IRIS ratios to flag companies for further review and investigation.
