Zone system
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-003760
A regulatory arrangement developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners that groups the states into geographic zones so that examiners from several states can take part in one financial examination of an insurer. The state that calls the examination leads it, and the other participating states accept its findings rather than examining the company again. Examinations were traditionally scheduled every three years.
