Lapse ratio

A metric used by insurance companies, particularly in life insurance, to measure the rate at which policies are terminated due to non-payment of premiums or voluntary surrender. It is calculated as the number of policies lapsed or surrendered over a period, divided by the total number of policies in force. A high lapse ratio can indicate customer dissatisfaction or economic hardship.
