Professional negligence or misconduct by a professional, such as a doctor, lawyer, or accountant, that results in harm or injury to a client or patient. It occurs when a professional fails to exercise the degree of skill and care that a reasonably prudent professional in the same field would have exercised under similar circumstances. Claims often involve a breach of professional duty and causation of damages.
