Mandated reporter

An individual who, by virtue of their profession, is legally required to report suspected cases of child abuse, elder abuse, or other forms of neglect or harm to the appropriate authorities. Professions commonly designated as mandated reporters include healthcare professionals, educators, social workers, and law enforcement officers. Failure to report can result in legal penalties.
