Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-002128
A detailed inspection of a vessel conducted by a qualified specialist to assess its condition, construction, equipment, and market value. Marine surveys are performed for insurance underwriting, claims investigation, pre-purchase evaluation, or financing. A "Condition and Value" survey, required by many insurers for older boats, evaluates the vessel's structural integrity and seaworthiness, while a "Damage Survey" determines the cause and extent of loss following an accident.
