Motion in limine

A pre-trial motion filed by a party in a lawsuit, asking the court to exclude certain evidence from being presented at trial or to prevent opposing counsel from mentioning certain topics. The purpose is to prevent the jury from hearing potentially prejudicial or irrelevant information that could unfairly influence their decision. These motions are typically heard and decided before the trial begins.
