In camera proceedings

A legal hearing or inspection of documents conducted in private, outside the presence of the public and the jury. In insurance litigation, a judge may review sensitive materials, such as proprietary business information or privileged communications, in camera to determine their admissibility as evidence without disclosing them to the opposing party or the public. The decision to hold such proceedings is governed by rules of civil procedure and evidence.
