In rem endorsement
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001778
An endorsement attached to a marine insurance policy that specifies the insurance applies to the vessel itself, rather than to the owner's personal liability. This means that the insurer's obligation is tied to the physical property. It is often used in situations where the owner's identity might be uncertain or where the vessel is the primary subject of the risk.
